Help with improving shape of youngster

Ok, I have a new yearling filly I want to show next year (she has had an old injury to her cannon bone, fingers crossed the resulting lump will lessen or disappear)
Now, apart from feeding, how do I get topline on her, as I understand topline to be muscle, not fat.
She doesnt naturally have a great topline (or any at all at the mo!) so any tips or help'd be greatly appreciated, as obviously the same principles you'd use with a ridden as regards schooling the muscle on wouldn't be appropriate!
Thanks

I find that a lot of walk is good for muscle tone and practising your show peice. I wouldn't imagine the judge would be looking to much at the topline of a yearling and by next year this may have improved slightly once she has grown more.

I've found that correct feeding and the exercise they get by living out is fine for a yearling - especially if you can manage to have hilly fields! Certain bits can be improved by strapping too.
